I am not my mind, I am not my body
This work translates the chanting meditation practice "I am not my mind, I am not my body" onto a hand-coiled pot that echoes a ceremonial object.
This meditation reflects the compartmentalization of our human experience through attachment of constant self-identification—whether with political ideals, belief systems, social status, knowledge, or notions of right and wrong. These identities may give us the illusion of safety and control, but the more attached we become, the more we severe connections with those we don’t align with, deepening the root of division and causing us to live in constant duality.
None of the labels our minds place on us truly represent who we are at our essence. This work, "I am not my mind, I am not my body," materializes the practice of shedding such identities. Once we let go of who we think we are, what remains is our essence—and it is there that love, stillness, and human potential reside.
