Spring Emotion Collection ‘24

Spring Emotion Collection is a series of vessels that embody the layered heritage of Taiwan. Drawing inspiration from Indigenous megalithic textures, Chinese glaze traditions, and the Japanese sensibility of simplicity, each piece reflects a convergence of histories and aesthetics. The tones of Taiwan’s farmland and the natural sheen of metallic finishes also inform the materiality and formal expression of the work.

All of the pieces were created on my balcony—a humble yet meaningful beginning to my journey as a potter. After nine years of living abroad in the West, this collection is an aesthetic reflection of what “home” feels like to me: a landscape of subtle emotions—mild, moist, and sincere. Not dramatic, but quietly open. Open to complexity. Open to the coexistence of feeling.

Emotions are often expressed through objects and spatial atmospheres—never the protagonist, yet always present.

They are a natural part of daily life—not to be suppressed, nor necessarily solved, but simply acknowledged, felt, and lived with.

At the core of this collection is a sense of nostalgic texture, slow rhythm, and the quiet coexistence of soft light with weathered structures—this is what home feels like to me.
